Old Hwy 1 Avonport between Grand Pre and Hantsport From Halifax: take highway 101 west. Take exit 9 off Hwy 101. at the end of the ramp, turn right into the round about, bear right. Take the West Brooklyn/ Hantsport exit onto Hwy 1. we are about 1/2 km on the left. We are approximately 1 hour from Halifax and 15 minutes from Windsor. From the Valley:Take highway 101 east. Take exit 9 Avonport. Turn left. Drive about 500 m, Turn left again and drive across the overpass. Enter the round about bearing right. A few facts about Avonport Discount Centre Inc.:
It began in October of 1990 as a 40' x 40' building which sold hardware and tools. By 1991 it had grown to 40'x 100' and someone suggested "fabric". WHY NOT?!?! I had been a quilter for some years and a sewer for about 6 years.
Now 15 years later, with over 4700 bolts of cotton our store and business has changed. We are registered and incorporated, have been a member of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business for many years. The store is now a shop member of the Canadian Quilters Association.
10 years ago Richard took the hardware and tools across the yard into another building. We were soon known as Avonport Discount Fabrics hence our web address.
